Craig H. Stewart was born in Houma, Louisiana.

​

He graduated from Grambling State University in 1986, earning a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice and an Associate in Science Degree in Law Enforcement. Before attending law school, Craig was Deputy Sheriff for the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Office. In this position, Craig was Narcotics Investigator and was assigned to the Louisiana State Police and the Louisiana Sheriff’s Association Narcotics Task Force.

Craig earned his Juris Doctorate from Southern University in 1995, serving on the Moot Court Board and the Southern Law Review.

Craig is admitted to practice law before Louisiana Courts. He is also admitted to practice before the U.S. Court of Appeals Fifth Circuit and the U.S. District Courts, Eastern, Western, and Middle Districts of Louisiana. Craig is also a member of the New Orleans, Terrebonne Parish, Louisiana State, and Federal Bar Associations.

Craig has served as Assistant District Attorney for the 23rd Judicial District since 2008 as a Senior Trial Attorney. In this position, Craig represents the State of Louisiana in the Criminal District Court.

Mr. Stewart also finds time to serve his community. He is a member of the Board of Directors of Terrebonne General Medical Center. He is also currently a member of the Houma-Terrebonne Airport Commission. He was also a member of the Terrebonne Economic Development Corporation and Terrebonne Parish Home Rule Charter Commission
